ur Derbyshire 2 has all the elements that make the English cottage a classic .  This plan conveys the feeling of a country cottage with its typically English construction materials, and design.  The Derbyshire 2 has the look of a cozy cottage with the benefits of a large floor plan and a lower level terrace walk-out making it perfect for a sloping site.


We have attempted to recreate the country charm of an English cottage in a new version suited for today's lifestyles.  Design elements reminiscent of English country design such as exposed rafter tails, stone construction accented by heavy timbers and infill of brick or stucco echo the charm of another world.  Steeply pitched roof lines and generous overhangs mimic construction techniques of the region years ago.

The welcoming courtyard at the entrance greets visitors with a sense of privacy and warmth.  It would be ideal for a small flower and herb garden tucked just off the motor court and visible enough to draw one in past the rectangular stair tower that hints at the spaces above.  A terrace level below the first contains surprising space with two large bedrooms, each with their own private bath and a 17' x 23' den with kitchenette.  All have a view to the back and open directly to a covered terrace below the porch above.  An unfinished storage area may also be well suited for a media or play room.



This functional, three story floor plan offers a generous 3,338 square feet of space and conveniences of an open floor plan with character.  The centrally located stair tower off the entry foyer wraps around an elevator and leads to the second floor.  A generous master bedroom suite on the ground floor offers a sunny sitting area overlooking the garden and has direct access to the covered autumn porch with exterior fireplace...the perfect spot for early morning coffee with the newspaper!  The double vanity, private toilet and large shower provide an added level of luxury to the master suite.  Two large closets allow for separate access and wardrobe storage opening directly to the bedroom. 


A large great room with fireplace and high beamed ceiling adjoins the dining room and a generous kitchen.  The two car garage with storage is conveniently located past the powder room and laundry area toward the front of the house.  Locating the garage to the front creates a cozy, private area to greet guests.  


Reached by stair or convenient elevator, the second floor is full of surprisingly interesting space for the active family.  A room for an office or study lies at the top of the steps and overlooks the great room below.  Additional room for a fourth bedroom or playroom is next to this space and a large bonus area above the garage offers great possibilities for a large play/media room.


All in all, this house is surprisingly large and elegant for a quaint "little cottage"!

The Derbyshire 2 is now available with a three car garage which gives additional space above the garage for any use such as an in-law suite, upstairs great room or additional media, office or play area.  The garage is 6 feet deeper from front to back for additional work area, and accommodates three cars comfortably while staying true to the Classic English Cottage look.
