ur "farm house" or La Ferme is a surprisingly functional 2,464 square feet given its "cottagy" country French appeal. Similar to Le Chalet, this plan offers some additional detailing and design elements such as exposed rafter tails and a variety of roof types. Typical French construction of limestone with wooden accents in the form of brackets, trusses, and board and batten shutters give it a definite French appeal. Window boxes filled with flowers, copper roof vents and terracotta chimney pots add to the authentic look of this updated, country house.
A cozy entryway leads to a small vestibule just off the study with fireplace and high, beamed ceiling. A large family room with fireplace, vaulted and beamed ceiling lies just beyond. French doors lead to a small covered patio and garden. By opening the space to the kitchen and dining area, we have created a very functional and surprisingly airy space. A breezeway which could double as a useful covered terrace off the dining area connects the house to a two car garage.
Three bedrooms and convenient laundry room lie at the other end of the house off a central hall. Two bedrooms share a "Jack and Jill" bath and allow for plenty of closet space. The master bedroom has a sizable bath with double sink, tub and shower. A private toilet room with its own window are at one end adjacent to the large walk-in closet.
