small landholding in France is known as la metairie. Our small house after the same name conveys the feeling of a country cottage with its typically French construction materials, and design. The welcoming courtyard at the entrance greets visitors with a sense of privacy and warmth. It would be ideal for a small flower and herb garden tucked just off the motor court and visible enough to draw one in past the rectangular stair tower that hints at the spaces above.
We have attempted to recreate the country charm of a French cottage in a new version suited for today's lifestyles. Design elements reminiscent of French country design such as exposed rafter tails, stone construction accented by heavy timbers and infill of brick or stucco echo the charm of another world. Steeply pitched roof lines and generous overhangs mimic construction techniques of the region years ago.
