Mountain Air Cottage

Mountain Air Cottage

ur Mountain Air Cottage has many of the attributes of the typical Arts and Crafts Bungalow. Tapered columns, clipped gables with massive brackets, exposed rafter tails, and curved and flared side window casings are hallmarks of this style.  The twin-gabled dormer with cross beam on two brackets and long overhangs with fancy rafter tails brings in extra light and adds detail and character to this small cottage.  Weathered shingle siding and windows with a central diamond motif create interest and add variety to textures and form.

What may be most surprising about this cottage is the open, airy feeling immediately upon entering. The large dormer above the front door floods the foyer with natural light, while the covered porch provides protection from sun and rain.  A vaulted great room with fireplace and extensive glass allows for great views and even more natural light.

To one side the great room opens to a large dining area and open kitchen with access to the terrace.  A side door connects directly to the kitchen of a convenient laundry and storage closet.  On the opposite side, a small vestibule leads to the bedroom wing which houses a large master suite with its own fireplace and sumptuous bath with walk-in closet.  A large guest bedroom and bath is opposite to master suite, all conveniently located off the entry foyer.

A stair is indicated if a lower level or basement is desired.  If not, the space occupied by the stair will offer even more storage, and usable space for extra uses.
