Timberline Cottage

Timberline Cottage

ooks are deceiving.  Our 2,667 square foot Timberline Cottage looks small and unimposing on the outside, but the interior space is any thing but!  As with typical Arts and Crafts homes, the exterior detailing has character derived through the subtle use of shingle and stone construction, tapered columns on stone bases, flared window casings, prairie style window muntins and the occasional use of diamond pattern glass windows.  One central shed roofed dormer with heavy brackets and "three over two" double hung windows floods the interior with natural light.  Below, the front door is flanked by wrought iron wall hung lanterns and two tall windows that bring the outside in.

A high dormer over the front door allows natural light to stream into the entry foyer and stairs.  Immediately to the right upon entering, the large great room with fireplace lies two steps down for dramatic effect.  The high vaulted ceiling adds to the space and drama.  A pair of French doors leads from there to the covered terrace beyond.

On the same level with the foyer and two steps above the great room, the kitchen and dining area share space with the great room and enjoy the view of the fireplace.  This space is particularly good for entertaining and easy living.  On the opposite side of the house from the great room (and the noise!) lies the bedroom wing with the master and guest suite.  The master with its vaulted ceiling has a large bath with extra large walk-in closet.  The laundry and linen storage closet are just outside its door off the kitchen.

The downstairs guest room has a private bath and closet and private access off the foyer.   A small powder room is at the foot of the stairs, tucked away for privacy.

The stairs leading to the second floor are off the front foyer.  At the top, a hall overlooks the great room below and that leads to bedroom #3.  This large bedroom has windows facing to the side and rear and sports a private bath and large walk-in closet.  This space could double as an office, media or play room.
